Total Compliance - FORS approved VR training

Training provider
In the world of driver safety training, especially for Safe Urban DrivingTraining, the cycling component has always been a sticking point.

Getting professional drivers onto bikes to understand hazards from a cyclist's perspective sounds simple enough, but in practice, it has become increasingly unworkable. Insurance premiums are high, qualified providers are few, and scaling such sessions across the country is next to impossible.
Back in 2019, Another Set of Eyes introduced 360 — the industry’s first smartphone-based VR training solution (previously known as ANET360) that put drivers directly into a cyclist’s shoes, without the cost, risk, or logistics of real-world cycling. It was designed to be highly scalable, cost-effective, and simple to use on devices that drivers already carry.

The technology worked, but we needed partners who could help prove that this wasn’t just a neat idea — it could meet the toughest regulatory standards.
Total Compliance  - Market Leader Training Provider

Sept 2023 - Ongoing

Jonathan and Michelle Scott, founders of Total Compliance, are well-respected professionals who know transport training and regulation inside out.
With Jonathan's background spanning HGV driving, law, and transport compliance, and Michelle's deep expertise in logistics and consultancy, they had built one of the UK's most trusted training providers - earning a reputation as forward-thinking market leaders in the sector.

When they saw ANET360, they immediately recognised the potential. More importantly, they understood what it would take to get it approved. Together, we set out not only to deliver training, but to achieve something the industry hadn't seen before: FORS approval for VR-based courses. This wasn't a box-ticking exercise. It meant proving that immersive VR training could meet—and in some cases exceed—the standards of traditional methods.

The result? Approval was granted, not once but on multiple occasions. For the first time, smartphone-based VR was officially recognised as a valid way to deliverSafe Urban Driving training.

The impact?

  • 2,000+ drivers trained through 360 by Another Set of Eyes, experiencing the cyclist’s perspective safely and effectively.
  • Regulatory validation that set a precedent for VR training across the UK transport sector.
Industry leadership from Total Compliance, which showed that innovation and compliance can go hand in hand.

As one trainer put it, "Drivers finish the course seeing cyclists in a completely different way. You can't replicate that impact with PowerPoint slides."

From bold experience to established practice

What began as a bold experiment is now an established practice. Total Compliance continues to use our products across their programmes, and the success of this partnership has encouraged other operators to rethink how training can be delivered. Together, we’ve shown that the future of driver training doesn’t have to be a choice between innovation and compliance — it can, and must, be both. With 360 byAnother Set of Eyes, that future is already here.

“It was a true collaboration that demonstrated how innovation can meet and exceed rigorous compliance standards. Securing FORS approval for VR-based courses was a game-changer for us, marking the start of a new era in the market.
As a forward-thinking company, Total Compliance were the first in the market to adopt new technologies, such as Virtual Reality, to offer an alternative approach to the Safe Urban Driving course. Traditional methods were difficult to scale, but ANET360 provided a practical, immersive, and cost-effective solution.”
