Building trust through secure innovation: what our Cyber Essentials Accreditation means to us

At our company, we take these risks seriously - not because it’s trendy or because of a certificate, but because our clients entrust us with their most sensitive data.

When news broke of the Jaguar Land Rover cyber attack, it made headlines not just for the scale of the breach, but for the staggering financial impact: around £1.9 billion lost across the company and its partners. High-profile incidents like this highlight a truth every company, big or small, must face: cyber threats are real, and their consequences can be devastating.

At our company, we take these risks seriously - not because it’s trendy or because of a certificate, but because our clients entrust us with their most sensitive data. Creating beautiful products or engaging services is important, and having strong design or product principles matters - but what our clients care about most is how their data is managed, who has access, and how we respond if something goes wrong. Security is not an afterthought; it’s a core part of our culture.

I was first introduced to the critical importance of cybersecurity by Michael Barrett at FM Conway, during the deployment of our solution. Michael didn’t just teach us about firewalls or passwords - he helped us understand that security is foundational to innovation. Getting the fundamentals right from the start set the tone for how we would build our products.

Later, Zsolt Kovacs, a Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP), joined us as an Advisor and Chief Information Security Officer (CISO). The CISSP credential is a globally recognised standard in cybersecurity, awarded to professionals who demonstrate deep expertise in designing, implementing, and managing secure systems. Zsolt’s guidance transformed the way we think about risk, privacy, and responsible innovation, ensuring that both our company and our clients’ data are protected to the highest standards. Together, he and Michael helped us to instil a mindset that security isn’t a checkbox - it’s built into everything we create.

For most startups, cybersecurity and information governance are often afterthoughts. For us, they are core to how we innovate safely. From day one, we design our products with security in mind. We actively protect and manage our intellectual assets, ensuring that our clients’ data and insights remain theirs alone.

Achieving Cyber Essentials accreditation is a milestone that reflects this mindset. It’s not simply a certificate on the wall - it demonstrates that we approach security practically and proactively, embedding it into our processes and culture. We couldn’t have done it without the invaluable guidance of Joe Howard, Cyber Security Lead at Lineal Software Solutions Ltd., whose expertise helped us translate principles into real-world practices.

Our journey doesn’t stop here. The next step is applying the Zero Knowledge principle across our solutions, ensuring that the eye-tracking data collected via our Vision solution remains fully under our clients’ control. This is the next level of secure innovation: empowering clients while protecting their most sensitive assets.

Cyber Essentials is just one step. Our true mission is to embed security into the DNA of our products, safeguard intellectual property, and create a company culture where data protection, trust, and responsible innovation are as important as any feature or service we deliver. Because, in the end, trust is the foundation of everything we build.
